kitch, Welcome. Consult with her doctors. However, I do feel that, with trial and error experimentation, diapers, either disposables or washables, could probably be made to work for you. You will need patience, and a willingness to learn from failure, but you will eventually succeed. Likely her doctors have her on a diuretic of some sort, which has put her kidneys into high gear, which in turn exacerbates her incontinence. Good luck finding protection that works, for both of you.

Increasing Water Intake with 95 Year old Female We have Increased water intake with a 95 year old Female due to edema in her ankles. Very challenging to keep her dry and comfortable during the night. We stop water at 5:00 pm, but she will continue excess urination through out the night. Previously she was able to inform us when she had to urinate, so we were able to keep her dry throughout the day before the extra water intake. We all know water is needed, but the extra pressure to hold and amount of urination from the extra water, she's beginning to miss the urgency signal. Keeping her clean and comfortable has been a lot of work. She is currently using extra absorbant overnight pads, and we still have to do more washing and cleaning because she is unable to hold the excess urine. Would Diapers do a better job ?

Interesting site with the pocket diapers LynnK, I have not seen those for adults, one for the bookmarks, thanks! Even their shipping to Canada was reasonable, Puffy

For daytimes you can use pocket diaper covers from snap-ez for life. They are very reliable and the diaper slips inside of the pocket. The diaper and cover snap on as one piece and are easy to change. You can add as many 14 x 21 soaker diapers as needed inside the pocket. They can go in a plastic trash bag until you get home and then the diapers pull out and go into the diaper pail. A lot of time I use these for work when I am tired of disposables.

I made the switch from the disposables to cloth+plastic pants a short time back and I am glad I did. I use a a Leakmaster prefold at night and a lighter gauze prefold diaper during the day. Most days I get by with one change, not a big deal. The cloth is more comfortable during the day and the plastic pant is hardly noticeable.

Bedwetter, try adding more 14 x 21 prefold baby diapers to the front and sides. this should help a lot toward reduced or eliminated leaks. I have a large like of 14 x 21 diapers i rely on and they kep my bed dry along with the 36 x 36 adult diapers.

That's too bad bedwetter789, you must have a larger output or not enough layers for the cloth to handle it, I rarely have any leak issues, and if I do it is at the hip most times, and minimal... At least you have them in your supply if you try them again later, Puffy

Yes, cloth ngiht diapers are quite bulky. Anyone considering going this route needs to realize this. Impossible to hide the pj bulge. Also you basically have to be laying down when you diaper yourself. Not that big of deal for bewetters. A bigger issue if you are changin in daytime in public lavatory stalls. I find them so much more comfortable especially in hot weather when the disposable paper and plastic ones get so clammy and hot and bfall apart just cause of the sweat. And I can sleep thorugh the night and never have to worry about leaks. I do from time to time share a hotel room. So with the cloth ones I have to come clean as it is obvous I am diapered. Can't so dicretly slip them under the blankets ro sleepign bag. Also there is the isseu with cloth ones that htey sag and have a tendancy to fall down with the additional weight when soaked. Everything in life is about compromsie I guess. Wes

Wesbedwtr, Diapers heavy enough to give me uninterrupted sleep bulged my pjs so much that I switched to nightshirts. They're a little cool on the legs when I get up, but the comfort is worth it.

My cloth diapers for overnight are thick, especially with the baby diaper inserts I get from the serivce. I don't think I could wear them under regular day clothes without it being too obvious. Yes my pjs really bulge out but for night time who sees me. I never have to worry about leask in the cltoh ones. I if wear in daytime I usally go with the Depends brief witn tpaes or similar disposable. Wes

My diaper service uses a plain white van. I could care less if they had the diaper service name on the van as I need them. There is very little left in life with diapers that could embarass me at this point. The service prices are cazy cheap and worth every penny.

Hi, Puffy. Yes, I am able to get my Tena Super Stretch diapers locally. I found a medical store close to work that carries them, and has it in my file that they'll match prices I found online, so they're a great value, too. But lest you think that I'm always shy when talking about diapers, I have no qualms about educating the women who work there about incontinence products. They're all very sweet, but know little about adult diapers. They'd never even heard of the Super Stretch before I came along, and now they order them just for me. I'll talk with anyone I don't know about diapers; just not people I'll see in a social setting. -RMS

I use a cloth diaper service for babies and if I supply my own cloth diapers they launder them once a week and return them fresh. It is a great deal for the price and no rinsing/wasking diapers. I set the wet/messy diapers out Thurs. morning and the fresh ones are there Thurs evening. i bought the 36 x 36 adult diapers and then got a ton of the baby diapers that go inside from the diaper service. in the long run I am saving a ton of money with little effort. The baby diapers do most of the absorbing and are hideable under clothing (so I think). If they are noticable, then too bad! A slightly noticable diaper is far better then soaked pants and shoes.

Hey RMS, I am with you on the fact that this topic is not one most people can deal with easily, it took me quite a while before I could even buy disposables in my own town, and I am not one to go openly talking to people about it, that is for sure. If the question is asked, I am not hiding any longer, that is why I have no qualms about hanging night cloth diapers on the line, along with bedpads and the like. I am at the point where it really does not matter if the neighbours know, if so then so be it, not a concern any longer in my life is all I am saying, bigger things to be concerned with! BTW, does your local pharmacy stock the Tena Stretch (I use the Supers too in the daytime when I go out), as I have not seen them locally here "yet" but know I could order them in if I really wanted them, makes me wonder if they will switch over from the Supers, or just keep their stock the way it is. Guess I will have to ask! Puffy
